Deep Breathing for Beginners
In a stressful moment, try this deep breathing exercise for one full minute. For many it’s been proven to provide a sense of calm. First, sit comfortably in a chair with your eyes closed. Then, start your breathwork: Breathe in for a count of 4, hold your breath for a count of 4, breathe out for a count of 4, hold your breath for a count of 4, and repeat. If it helps, you can picture a square in your mind (or focus on a visible square in the room), and trace the lines of the square with the rhythm of your breathing.
